The Earth Day was celebrated on the 5th of December, 2019 at the Faculty of Agriculture. It was organized by the students’ scientific society ( Scientific coordinator Roza Lortkipanidze). This day was annually celebrated in Tbilisi with the form of Olympiad at soil sciences. The representatives of the Faculty of Agriculture always actively participated in it. Head of the society of soil sciences conducted the olympiad online. Scientists representing soil sciences participated online.
Head of the Department of Agronomy, prof. Roza Lortkipanidze opened the meeting and gave speech concerning the importance of this day. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, prof. Ketevan Kintsurashvili greeted the participants and wished them success. The students of the bachelor’s educational programme “Agronomy” participated in the Olympiad. The students: Mariam Gugava, Lia Diakonidze, Ana Chikovani, Iuri Kharabadze, Mariam Kukhalashvili, Roman Chkhenkeli and Ana Mushkdiani were most actively involved. They made presentations and spoke about the importance of soil- that is omnipotent aspect of the Earth. The topics were about types of the soil, erosion forms, erosion problems, the humus etc.
